In the heart of Abruzzo, where Lake Fucino once stretched across the plain before the Romans drained it in 52 AD, ancient folklore spoke of a colossal serpent that dwelled in its depths — the Python. Not merely a creature, but a guardian of the threshold between the world of the living and the world beneath. Local accounts described it as older than Rome itself, fed by offerings left at the water's edge by peoples whose names have been forgotten. When the lake was emptied, they say the Python did not die. It simply went deeper — into the earth, into the dark, into the places water leaves behind.
In Blood of Legends, Livia Moretti carries this legend in her blood — born from a region that never forgot what lived beneath the lake.
